Redcar will be in same position as bishop last year who got together a good squad of players of who dont want and/or cannot commit to travel and performed well in the league and contributed to bishop acheiving there ambitions then moved on after acheiving it. . if redcar Win the league they will have to replace them again as they will want to stay localised. part of the cycle i guess. Not a complaint just a observation and ive no doubt each player will of made it crystal clear if go up they wont be . Surely most players have more ambition than that and would want to play at th highest standard possible if allowed, ie- good enough? it’s not always about ambition, it can be work and family commitments. Robbie Dale left Spartans for Ashington because he was fed up with travelling all day on a Saturday. When we went up he left again.

If Redcar Athletic don't get promoted and win every game with the cash been thrown around it will be a travesty Redcar will be in same position as bishop last year who got together a good squad of players of who dont want and/or cannot commit to travel and performed well in the league and contributed to bishop acheiving there ambitions then moved on after acheiving it. . if redcar Win the league they will have to replace them again as they will want to stay localised. part of the cycle i guess. Not a complaint just an observation and ive no doubt each player will of made it crystal clear if go up they wont be . This will likely become less and less when more teams have to be promoted. Often there is always one team who finds a “sponsor”, but will be less likely with compulsory promotion.

Most of the player who have dropped down are in there late 20s/early 30s and have young families often use footy as that escape for a couple of hours, and is losing most if not all your Saturday worth for £90-200? How many memories with your kids do you not make, When you could drop down a local level and get same money and alot less travel

Once in a while is fine, but if I did it every other weekend, not to mention midweeks, she’d get fed up quick.

NL1 champions NL1 playoffs x4 clubs(Marske United are ineligible for promotion) NL1 relegations x2 clubs NL2 champions NL2 playoffs x4 clubs NL2 relegation zone x3 clubs
My predictions: NL1 champions: Redcar - players they have anything less than this has to be seen as a failure. NL1 playoffs: West Auckland - superb ypung team another year older so expect to challenge and go up throughbplay offs, blyth town, good footballing side, kendal Town will be mint, Whickham have made some decent signings NL1 relegations: Tow Law Town just wont have enough & Northallerton Town signed loads of lads who finished mid table playing for Richmond in the wearsode league. NL2 champions: Darlington Town - money galore and sighed Jarvie from Aycliffe NL2 playoffs: Billingham Synthonia finished strong last year and have added some quality, Horden Community Welfare will be there or there abouts, FC Hartlepool made a few decent signings good footballing side, Y&E not pretty on the eye but win games NL2 relegation zone: Washington only survived last year due to brandon folding then being given 6 weeks grace! Sunderland West End have been saved by the fa twice worst team I saw last year abd kept sane management team and squad!

I think a lot of these predictions need revising after pre season some clubs have had.
The likes of Shildon, Whitley Bay and Birtley look like they will really struggle.
On the flip side the likes of Boro Rangers, Guisborough and North Shields will fare well.

I’ve seen Ashington win all their preseason games and gave a poor league season, and seen us lose them all and have a great season.

I’d be interested to know if any Guisborough fans or anyone associated with the club, have genuine ambitions beyond the Northern League?

Can't see why not considering Guisborough have been in the NCEL before. Don't think Guisborough would need much ground work either (at least in comparison to N shields or Boro Rangers).

Shildon looked pretty decent v Spenny last week, they could do well but the ground is so off putting in winter. I don't know how the finances would work even if they were to go up again. They just won't appeal beyond the hardcore support I believe thus reducing gates

Maybe not best supported club in league above but decent enough gates for that level. Shame they never went up last season but thats the lottery of the play offs i guess

Redcar will have another bad start. A few heads will roll before the end of August I think they have no room for error. With that squad they have to win it. You never know what can happen. Going to be tough keeping that many quality players happy .

Realistically I think there is only 2 top 5 positions up for Grabs with the money being thrown around at Redcar, Blue Star, and Blyth ,those 3 seem to be chucking money at it to get a chance of promotion. The others 2 spots are anyone’s guess . I think The money being thrown about at Redcar should see them win it comfortably . Blue Star an Blyth also with big budgets will be there behind them
