Shockingly marske were in the wearside league for the 12 years before they moved upto the Northern league. Maybe they didn't fancy the North Riding league then. Shockingly. Nope, the NRL wasn’t a step 7 league at the time and only achieved this maybe 10 years ago. So ambitious clubs had to choose between the York Minster league and the Wearside league. The FA wanted to fill in all the gaps around the country and my recollection is that along with the North Riding there was also the Lincs, Oxfordshire and Salop leagues were given step 7 status. The FA’s aim was to complete the process and add a Cumbrian and Worcestershire leagues. Unfortunately the FA decided to drop step 7 and leave it in the hands of the counties and they are all called feeder leagues. So it is no longer the case and clubs are placed in the Wearside league, because there’s no other option. They’re placed into the most appropriate league and just as Marske Utd Res are in the NRL, so will their first team. The club would probably prefer this over the Wearside, because they will want to get back into the Northern League as soon as possible and in my opinion the Wearside league is one of the most competitive leagues at this level. Shockingly

Ha ha nope. Yeah let's make it as easy possible for marske to go tits up again. Great idea. A few seasons in the wearside league might do them good. We all know what happens when a club tries to much to soon. Hence the thread.

It is Malvern. Losing five grand a week after the first couple of weeks of that surely the alarm bells were ringing. Should have got rid of the leaches and took the hit on the field instead of off it at least they'd be kicking a ball on Saturday. £5000 a week That equates to £190k for 38 week season £240k for 48 weeks £260k for 52 weeks So it’s a loss in region of a fifth to a quarter of a Million Pounds Who in their right mind thinks this is a sustainable business model? That’s Marske and North Shields in financial mire, and I think Blyth , Spennymoor , South Shields , Darlington have similar debts Not even a cup run to First rounds wipes this amount of debt out Cloud cuckoo land Scary this is what happens when you're in dreamland. Ooohhhh look there going through the leagues we should try that. Yeah go for it if you've got the money or your not paying players ridiculous money. There's a couple more going to implode in the next few months. It's nailed on.

Shockingly marske were in the wearside league for the 12 years before they moved upto the Northern league. Maybe they didn't fancy the North Riding league then. Shockingly. Marske were originally in the Teesside League which was not a feeder league at that time which is why the joined the Wearside League. That is not the case now the North Riding League has promoted 3 teams in the last 3 years and with Grangetown BC looking good to be the 4th I feel that Marske would go into that League if the FALC wish it.

Yes the figures make alarming reading and also something not right about the fundraiser, was that not started to raise money to keep the team going at current level but now the team has ceased playing should donators not have the option to be refunded. Clearly had a load of mercenaries but the blame lies most with those who sanctioned the high wages in the first place. They had a manager based east yorkshire way at one time, he wont have come cheap

They've seen Shields taking the piss and how weak the NL is, why wouldn't they try the same?

Strong rumours that all those involved in Redcar Newmarket/Darlington Town are moving on mass, over to Marske Utd at the end of the season. With Simon Kasonalli taking over as manager and Craig Skelton as his assistant.

They have realistic aspirations themselves of being in NL Div 2 next season.

Did that Darlington United side get shot of the conman. That would be some merger with Marske mind it would be like a whos who of how not to run a club.

Did that Darlington United side get shot of the conman. That would be some merger with Marske mind it would be like a whos who of how not to run a club. He's gone, received quite the Christmas "good will" message on their Twitter as well which has reverted to "Redcar Newmarket (Darlington United Newmarket)". A merger fits well if it does come to pass, a first team with an unsuitable ground going to a suitable ground with no first team, both having suffered previous chairmen who built everything up on sand...
