Some coin being thrown about this year in the Northern league. Wonder if the panic is setting in yet at some of these clubs spunking money. I certainly think it is.

Worst I've had recently was at Dunston last year. Got a burger and threw it straight in the bin. It looked like dog food with a strange red oily substance oozing out of it (and no it wasn't blood, it was too thick for that) Unbeknownst to me, the burgers there had been ridiculed on was of those 'football food' social media pages. Had I seen it I wouldn't have bought it. Those were tinned Westler Burgers. Ideally clubs shouldn't really need gourmet food, but clubs shouldn't be selling things like that at NPL east level. Most clubs now have passable options, I've even had decent burgers and chips in Division Two. Always found the food at Willington nice. Worst I had was a borderline raw burger from a food truck at Blyth Spartans, had stomach cramp days after. As for Esh, I had a nice slice of Goodfellas pizza there last season with Brandon United. I found the photo. Mine looked worse than this www.facebook.com/photo/?fbid=688895036609788&set=a.627016436130982&locale=en_GB

I think in general a lot of clubs will have been happy to see the backs of Whitehaven, as harsh as that sounds. If I recall correctly the first game there was delayed because Whickham(?) completely miscalculated the journey time. 9 August 2008 Northern League Division 2. Whitehaven Amateurs 5-1 Washington. The Washington coach hit three unexpected sets of roadworks and arrived at the ground shortly before 3,00pm. The match official and home club agreed to delay the kick-off until 3.15pm. I was aboard the Washington coach that day. Nightmare journey.
