Esh 2 Chester 1. A really bad game of football and a clubhouse with no food. Not the best night. Is it not a league requirement to have food on either during the game or for after match refreshments. Didn't this used to be a rule years ago? You had to at least have hot hospitality food for players and officials and offer refreshments to fans? Can't say I agree with the rule myself. No point buying food and drink for gates of 40 odd people, especially with how expensive things are these days.

Aftermatch food can be knocked on the head if both teams agree to it but to not have any refreshments on hot or cold during the game is inexcusable. Got nothing to do with expense when your paying players.

I heard it was a league requirement to do hospitality for players/officials/directors, never heard of a requirement do sell it to fans although most do it.

Not sure on the rules and there might have been good on after but nothing for sale before the game, I was gutted, I hadn’t had my tea before I left home!! Ha Tends to be garbage at that level anyway, i rarely bother, would rather eat in local pub, cafe or takeaway used to be a excellent old school fish and chip shop in esh winning

Its up there with the worst places to go for a match in the northern league, so old fashioned. Still can`t pay with card for a drink, no food. Not been improved at all in years, no wonder they dont attract people to watch. The path from car park to clubhouse is an absolute disgrace especially in the dark. It will never fail a league inspection. One of Mike Amos favourite little grounds when he was in charge. Think those days are long gone

What was the general condition of the ground/pitch?I went there to catch a game backend of last season, the state of the place was'nt good..as it improved? Well some sort of wood plank fell from the stand when the ball hit it so I think that sums it up.

To the point he actively looked for a club he could fail on ground grading to save them when they finished bottom. Whitehaven were the unlucky club. Finished mid table and were relegated instead of Esh Winning because the window on the payment hatch was a fraction of an inch too big.

Seems a bit harsh and was it done to save esh winning or just a theory, either way with fa doing ground grading and it going through apps etc i doubt this would happen now

It would be interesting to know if Esh met every last detail of the requirements. You’re right however, it won’t happen again now the FA are doing the inspections.

I think in general a lot of clubs will have been happy to see the backs of Whitehaven, as harsh as that sounds. If I recall correctly the first game there was delayed because Whickham(?) completely miscalculated the journey time.
Still absolutely stinks though.

Whilst i never went to the whitehaven ground esh was always a bit ramshackle. Im sure the league said in a statement at the time whitehaven had been warned several times, mind when they finally acted the timing was sure a co-incidence ha ha

Thing is whitehaven were in no mans land whether they play north west counties or northern league they face alot of travel and the whole farce of them been demoted was shocking
