So even the biggest traditionalists surely now have to realize we need to change the way a seasons fixtures are ran.
I dont like the thought of taking cup competitions away completely as it gives the smaller clubs a chance of a bit glory. So how about giving clubs their own choice, give their place up in the cups if they feel the need. Or how about playing the early rounds as a pre-season tournament?
How about rather than ramming 2 or 3 midweekers at the end of the season after the weather has took its toll do it at the start of the season, ie more games at the start when the weather is good.
Could the officials not be more lenient over postponements, some of the games I have seen called off fora little puddle in one corner have been laughable. Obviously this is down to the blame claim culture, how about getting players to sign a waiver?
And of course the main one, how about getting the richest FA in the county to cough up some of their mass savings to actually "help" the clubs who essentially have helped make them the richest FA in the country. Funding to help with drainage, and for playing on 4g hubs, pitches etc.

Good ideas indeed of course will be hard to please the purists and would be a case of never pleasing everyone from less traditional kick off times to games been played at to clubs sadly loosing money. I think similiar to you -play county cup and league cups pre season, players dont get paid for friendlies so dont oay them for these games either. This is better than teams bailing out or competitions been canned altogether -during exceptionally bad weather like this season get multiple games on at a club or a hub with a 3g pitch, as many as 3 games could be played on a saturday and sunday, not ideal but gets game’s out the way. Has the durham fa ground not got a 3g pitch? Maybe use non football grounds like falcons rugby ground. Staging 2-3 matches in one day would sure reduce costs. -why on earth cant the season be started in july with games every mid-week until october

Surely makes sense to move Redcar v Bishop to Stockton or boro rangers tomoro night if viable??!! What about the costs for Redcar and lost revenue? It’s alright people suggesting other clubs move the games . They have nothing to lose. Redcar would lose out big style as the game will attract a large crowd not forgetting bar and food sales .

Hp is dry as sticks just reverse the fixture? Once again I’ll ask you who pays for pitch hire, who compensates Redcar for loss of takings? Lastly, why should they move it to suit other people?

From the start of the season there should be games scheduled every Sat & Wed until the weather makes it impossible.
Every season they leave a load of blank dates when the weather and pitches are at their best and every year people complain about it but nothing ever changes.

Here's an idea. What are the so called "big clubs" doing for grassroots football? Sunderland AFC hosted Crook District League games in the 2000s due to mad cow disease (? I think that's why, someone correct me). Hartlepool United have hosted Gateshead before. Sunderland even have Eppleton CW's old place surely that's step 6 eligible at least?
Otherwise reversing fixtures is probably the only way forward, that or neutral venues...which...and I am not deliberately mentioning them I swear, Bishop Auckland's Heritage Park probably has the leagues best grass surface.

With Bishops' final home game this Saturday, providing we are not involved in the play offs then HP could well be available for the next few weeks. However, I do know we usually host local cup finals at this time of year then pretty sharpish commence our close season pitch maintenance.

Could also play the reserve team there as they have a big backlog themselves. And yes, it will host the Auckland Cup final in a few weeks.
