February is here & Its Squeaky Bum Time
For the remaining Whitley Bay FC Directors
Can't pay the wages !!!!! Thriving Bar the Seahore Pub busy match day catering franchise Charge more than most for match day admission & consistently have attendances of 300-550 & they struggled to pay the players what they were due
Well respected manager leaves after an 8-1 victory one goal better than when Kevin Keegan left the Toon
What happens No.2 becomes No.1 Club captain Michael Hall A leader when he was a young 'un at Seaton Delaval Amateurs a leader at Morpeth Town steps up to run the dugout whilst Liam completes his stadium ban and lead Whitley Bay to the cusp of the playoffs
Players win football matches not directors Liam & Michael have kept the squad together The town and wider football community will back a wining Bay team by paying their hard earnt to support the club
Will the remaining directors back Liam and Michael back the players back the supporters and do everything they can to get Whitley into the playoffs win them and get promoted
Purpose of a football club is to win games win cups win leagues get promoted If not what is the point
If the remaining directors of Whitley Bay FC can't deliver that its time they found a new hobby and allowed others to take over and progress the club

Can't quite understand how Whitley Bay cannot pay players, unless of course they are paying them too much in accordance with how much the club takes in. Towards the end of last season the admission price went up because of increased match day costs, which suggests a lack of foresight in budgeting. The club does manage to get decent size crowds when you think there is very little publicity of games should you venture around town. Maybe they need to promote the club's fixtures better in the local community to increase revenue. :-)

There either getting paid or there not getting paid. The key word here is struggling. Players in the northern league couldn't give a monkeys if the club they play for is struggling just as long as there getting there packet. They don't care where it comes from at five o clock on a Saturday afternoon as long as when they put there hand out it's getting greased. It's when you say nowt left no money that's when the problems arise. I don't think Whitley will go up this season anyway. What your implying is the Bay directors are on the take and if so do something about it.

The accusations at Bay have been going on for a decade now. Is there any actual evidence to support what's being said? All I can see is a club that's consistenly been at the top end of Division 1 despite not having a rich backer, and through some very tough times.

All of the problems have been known and widely discussed for more then a decade.
Paying out a fortune on bar staff wages rather than relying on volunteers like most clubs do.
Prioritising the clubhouse and its pool league via the paid groundsman/director who seemingly cares now able that them the football team.
A complete inability to promote the team or acquire meaningful sponsorship (particularly during the Vase era which included refusing multiple offers from fans to go out and get sponsorship into the club).
Rumours that new investment has been avoided as there's a reluctance to have genuine transparency re. Club finances.
A board that absolutely so not ever want to get promoted or of the NL despite the occasional statement to the contrary when it's mathematically impossible. (See also a final game of the season in such a scenario where Whitley could theoretically have gone up if they'd won 13-0 that day. 4 or 5-0 up after half an hour or so and you could see the panic amongst the Scottish mafia)
Countless examples of relying on the goodwill of fans then teasing them with contempt (there are people who've been waiting a decade to get the free pint they were promised for spending a weekend painting and repairing the ground)
A complete failure to invest in infrastructure or improve the club when riding high and a wilful stagnation ever since which has lead us to the ludicrous position were in now.

I know it's in the contracts and it's a big draw to attracting players, but I think at this level it is properly irresponsible/stupid/careless to pay players weekly and not "per game". None of the teams in the league are immune to the weather and seasons like this highlight how many problems it generates!

Would take some effort to pay them per game if they played Saturday, Tuesday, Saturday in the event of clearing a backlog of games, and those games were away fixtures.
