Bishops face off against West Auckland for successive seasons in the FA Cup, although the meetings last year (in front of two bumper crowds) came a couple of rounds further in.
Expecting West Auckland to be a bit match sharper than ourselves seeing as though they have already had two competitive outings - we ourselves were in the same position last season when we beat Bridlington 3-0 at home.
I get the impression Bishops' may still be a slight work in progress with a couple more players needed in the coming weeks but hoping we can put out our strongest side available and get into the groove nice and early!

West lost 3 key players mid game against redcar on tues and i dont expect them to play today which is a big loss. Might be a bit scrappy today 🤞

Alnwick Town 2 Newcastle University 2.
Somewhat a game of two halves between two very active and competitive teams. Alnwick started very poorly (sluggish and poor defending) and Uni took advantage after lots of early pressure but Alnwick clawed one back within 8 minutes to make it 1-1 in the first half. The second half had Alnwick take the drivers seat and eventually go ahead via a penalty. After this it seemed Alnwick had firm control, but they continued to spurn chance after chance. Uni themselves missed a basically open goal in the second half too. But as the game went on Alnwick began to struggle again, and Uni took advantage in the games dying breaths to score and make it 2-2. Could have easily been 4-4 if not more. Don't think either will be near the top, Alnwick especially will want to pick up three points sooner rather than later.
For those curious, no food in clubhouse at all from what I could see (could be wrong, seemed to only be crisps/scratchings). I know a lot of people don't like that, but my view is there's no point buying things like burgers and hotdogs if you never really get over 200 people.

A very pleasing afternoon from a Bishops point of view, very controlled performance with West Auckland not registering a single meaningful effort on Bishops goal throughout.
We also played some nice stuff at times with a swagger being introduced in the final third of the game as it became pretty much a keep balls session.
Expected more of WA to be honest but the league difference showed, thats for sure.
A good crowd of 490, although looked to be as bigger than that in my opinion.
