I’ve been opposed to sin bins from the very start. The laws of the game should be enforced not watered down. If an infringement is made then the official should deal with it as they see fit not give a time out on the naughty step. And now a spell on the naughty step will cost £12 same as a caution? So basically the team gets punished more so than the player getting a caution, I thought the purpose of sin bins was to lessen dissent while being used as a deescalating tool? Now it’s more impactful than a yellow! The FA lining their pockets once again. Bang on! Imagine the money the fa have lost since the sin bin was introduced. They will of lost millions so now they hoy a fine on it . Absolute garbage again from the fa. Just confirming they want to screw every penny they can out of clubs. Tbh is it a surprise ? Of course not . Money grabbing at its finest yet again .

If applied, the existing FA Rules enable referees to properly manage dissent but that hasn't happened in recent years - and imo the Sin Bins haven't really helped.
Yellow card fines for reckless challenges, tactical fouls etc are generally paid for by the Clubs. I wonder what Clubs will think about paying a fine for player dissent as well as having to play with ten men because of his actions?
And what will the player do when his wage is docked to pay for his fine.....

Opening game of the season and a sin bin already at Yarm and Eaglescliffe from what I've read.

The concern i hold is that there will become a need for a fourth official to manage the sin-binned player situation, over-see the both competing clubs dug outs, this then becomes an extra cost, and is it feasible for step 5 and 6 leagues.

Wearside league over the last couple of seasons I've noticed three or four players sin binned in games. If they can manage it at that level then I'm sure a northern league official is more than capable.

Though it would become a fourth official's role and responsibility, if so came in force with the professional game, which the FA have trailed in the lower step leagues, so the expectation may well bear on a Wearside League Division 1 game with just the referee (no assistants) to manage this as well, these referee's just qualified, in many cases, that is unfair and becomes agonising if the game boils out of control by all or some.
I have read many times on here about damming observations made about match officials, and that does not inspire me with confidence that all are more than capable.
It's the potential costs of the fourth official that was bringing concern too, some clubs don't make enough from the gate to cover three match officials let alone four, for me no sin-bins at step 5 and below..

If there's no sin bins then the player HAS to be booked for dissent which will still burden the club. You'd probably ask the player in question to cough up some do most don't so it will be the club who gets hit. These sin bins were introduced to ease the financial strain on clubs it was basically if your player oversteps the mark by shouting and balling at the ref he doesn't get a yellow or red he has 10 minutes in the sin bin. Now you get fined for going in the sin bin.

Well if the player had some self control then he or she would not shout at the referee, not be a financial burden to their club.

Well if the player had some self control then he or she would not shout at the referee, not be a financial burden to their club. Get away. Dissent has been in the game since day dot. You'll be saying next if a player didn't make a tackle he wouldn't get a red or yellow card. Haway pal.

In my day we had more respect, referee's were retired players in some cases, very very few bookings and had to have lost all control to be sent off. The Rothmans football news magazine late 1975,
''Fully Booked!''
West Auckland completed an unenviable record in the Rothmans Northern League on Tuesday October 28th, when they had full back Billy Beasley, booked in their game against Horden CW. This completed a ''hat-trick'' of bookings in successive games. The first came on Wednesday, October 22nd, when Beasley was booked at Bishop Auckland and on Saturday, October 25th, Dennis Dolphin was booked in the game at Horden.'' (must have played Horden twice in a few days)
This magazine does a piece on Spennymoor United whom defeated fourth division side Southport 4-1 at home in the 1st Round of the FA Cup, lovely to see the old stand which housed the changing rooms, many happy a day playing then and at the Brewery Field as it was.
