Darlington Fc Women statement
CLUB STATEMENT
Despite finishing 2nd in the Durham FA League One for Season 23/24. The Women’s Football Pyramid have informed the club that we were unsuccessful in regards to promotion.
Unfortunately because of the relegations from tier 5 (Hartlepool United and Redcar Town) both of these clubs will be relegated to play in the NERWFL Division One North.
As Sunderland U23’s could not be promoted after winning the NERWFL Division 1 North they have withdrawn from the league, resulting in 2nd place Ponteland United Women will move up to the NERWFL Premier Division.
Due to a league rule, Sunderland’s withdrawal means that Bishop Auckland FC Ladies do not get automatically relegated despite finishing in the bottom 2 and retain their NERWFL Divison One North status and there are no more vacancies in the league for another promotion from our level.
The coaching staff and players are obviously disappointed with this news but have to accept the decision. Nevertheless, the Quaker Women had a fantastic season, finishing runners up and getting to the League Cup Final, their best season to date.
We now look forward to the 24/25 campaign as they look to go one step further and gain promotion from the Durham FA League One.
We wish the best of luck to Chester Le Street Amazons and i2i International Soccer Academy who were successfully promoted to the NERWFL Division One North.
Darlington Football Club
