Great crack lads shame one from Birtley didn't get the banter. But like I said the first 45 at Birtley was the best football I'd seen in 42 years of following bishop.good night and god bless 🙌

Congratulations to Birtley and Heaton Stan for making the playoffs, a phenomenal achievement from both teams.
Birtley doing it in their first season on Div1 should put some of the remaining more established Div 1 clubs to shame (Whitley Bay for example) and shows what is possible with a good set up, good people and a bit of ambition, even if it probably is ahead of schedule for them.
With even Bishop finally being able to secure promotion after years of begging for the cherry picker it does also suggest that the NL is finding it's true level within the pyramid thanks too enforced promotion (as does the lack of recent success in the Vase).

I get some points but as for true level I disagree. As quick as some teams leave NL division 1 for promotion there back in it immediately after being relegated a season after.

Great achievement for Birtley in only their first season in the division, but as you mentioned, not forgetting Heaton having only their second season in division one

Hasn’t that only happened once? Shildon?

Hasn’t that only happened once? Shildon? North Shields. Different reasons, not due to playing level

Hasn’t that only happened once? Shildon? Shildon had two seasons at that level and i guess you could say they were not promoted by usual channels due to covid canning seasons

Different reasons, not due to playing level I know that but the original post said it shows what can be achieved with the right people and ambition etc and that's what I was replying to. Spunking money on players instead of bringing your ground upto standard to stay in the league your in or to progress further shows lack of ambition.
