Taken from West Auckland's manager in the programme against Penrith
Wonder what pitch he's talking about? How do other people feel about the NL and the effects of mandatory promotion?

Thats a brutal and honest statement and i agree with whats been said but are standards going down or is it just becoming on par with other leagues at same level? Ground grading sure does seem to be more easy going these days but can we really blame the league for that, more a fa thing

He's absolutely correct. Staying in the NL now is effectively relegation by stealth.

Ground grading sure does seem to be more easy going these days but can we really blame the league for that, more a fa thing The northern league stifled promotion for years. As a result it had a foothold on the vase and an almost false position nationally. Now the best teams have left, are leaving, and the league is settling into what it should have been from the beginning. I think it is certainly a slow relegation by stealth as suggested, but I agree that we're finally becoming on par with leagues at the same level. In my opinion, and I'm certainly a long way from sharing a majority opinion, it's getting towards where it should be. Poorer? Yes most certainly. But, and I use this word carefully, a lot more honest.

West Allotment Celtic, been a few times no idea how it's NL standards. Them and CLS United have worse set ups in NL imo, although CLS United are doing a number of good things, just limited by not owning where they play

the league chairman recently said in a interview that he thinks the standard is going down but he acknowledged teams will come back down eventually and i totally agree, bound to be some teams relegated with 4 going down from next season not to mention ambitious teams been promoted into the league

Is it playing wise facilities wise clubs pulling the wool wise. If the people in charge let certain clubs get away with different things then standards will never improve. These folk in charge are meant to set the tone instead of just being league management who are only here for an end of season piss up at the Ramside.

The FA have only taken over this season and have found a lot of issues up and down the country. The clubs and League’s will know what the issues are, but we’ll probably never find out until a club is facing demotion. Which won’t happen until the end of next season.

He’s had one good season in five years and now he’s stating the standard has tailed off. He’s been part of the issue by paying finished players from higher mental wages and diluting the league

The master of ring fencing with huge wages 'past it had beens' on reputation.....only to finish way off the pace season after season.

The man in question said in an interview in 2021 that the league wasn't the force it was and the standards etc weren't going to get any better.
Wasn't far wrong really.
