Now we are at the business end of the season the playoffs are starting to take shape. Bishops an Shildon have guaranteed a top 2 finish with bishops looking certainties to take top spot.
Shildon will rightly be favourites to join them via the playoffs but anything can happen in playoff games as we proved last year.
3rd to 5th is likely to go to the wire with 5 clubs still in with a shout . West Auckland in 3rd Heaton 4th and Birtley in 5th. Guisborough currently in 6th level on points with Birtley have 2 games remaining with Birtley having a better goal difference.
One side currently rising up the table are Boro Rangers who are in a very good run of form , with 5 games left they can't be discounted . West have only 1 game left v Whitley Bay, Heaton 5 left with a few really tough games amongst them, Birtley with 4 to play, again all tough games. Boro Rangers with 5 games left could force their way into the top 5 if any of the 4 teams mentioned slip up. Makes for a very interesting last couple of weeks of the season.

Darlington Town and Alnwick Town have both passed the ground grading and congratulations to them Iwas. at darlington earlier in the season it was just a cage with no seats or cover. they did say they were getting a new ground at the other side of the complex. do they not have to play at that ground for a year before they get promoted or have the rules changed.

I stand to be corrected but I believe that's only to bend the rules on 'ground sharing to gain promotion'. If it's not a ground share then as long as they have security of tenure for the forthcoming season and the ground has passed the grading then there shouldn't be an issue.

That rules not existed for donkeys now, hence why Boro Rangers briefly played at New Ferens Park in Durham.

Darlington Town is no different to Stockton Town, they have built a new ground on the same site. Even if it wasnt on the same site, its not a groundshare if its a new ground

PLAY-OFF DATES TO BE RE-SET The league had previously announced the dates for the end of season promotion play-off (see news release play-offs ) However, due to further postponements since that announcement and the FA allowing the season to be extended, the League Management Committee will need to review and re-set the dates. An announcement on the dates for the play-offs will be made as soon as possible. A league spokesman said: “We understand that having to review the dates for the play-offs at this late stage is far from ideal, but we are in an unprecedented situation, with postponements continuing to affect the fixtures, especially those involving teams that are likely to be involved in the play-offs.” Article Here - www.northernfootballleague.org/news/play-off-dates-to-be-re-set/

The league today announced the revised dates for the promotion play-off matches. Dates have had to be moved due to the continuing postponement of matches affecting promotion-chasing teams. Division One: The First Division semi-finals will be held on Wednesday, May 1 and Thursday, May 2, both with a 7.30pm kick-off. The Wednesday game will be at Shildon who will play the team that finishes fifth. The second match will be at the team that finishes third who will host the fourth-placed team. The play-off final will be on Monday, May 6 at 3pm at the home of the team that finishes the league season in the higher position. Division Two: The Division Two semi-finals will be held on Friday, May 3 at 7.30pm and Saturday, May 4 at 3pm. The Saturday game will be the match involving Bedlington Terriers as they still have league fixtures to complete earlier that week. The second-placed team hosts the fifth-placed team and the team that finishes third are at home to the team that finishes fourth. The play-off final will be held on Wednesday, May 8 at 7.30pm at the team that finishes the league season in the higher position. If matches are level after 90 minutes, ties are decided by a penalty shoot-out. (The entrance fee for the games will be: Division One: £8/5/2 for adults/over-65s/under-16s and Division Two: £6/4/2. FA rules stipulate that should a club that has qualified to play at home not be able to host the game at their normal home ground on the scheduled date and kick-off time then the game will be played on the ground of their opponents. Should neither club be able to host the fixture, a venue will be selected at the discretion of the league.) Taken From - www.northernfootballleague.org/news/play-off-dates-announced/
