How many go down from Division 2. I know the same questions get asked every year but there's never a definitive answer until the last whistle of the season because of clubs folding etc etc etc. Or should i say how many are meant to go down. Shame for washington but they seem to hang in there. When they got that new ground near the hub it was supposed to be all this and all that. Thats a good point. As it stands no north east team is in the northern premier relegation spot so that could reprieve second bottom. No doubt marske will have to be accommodated (who i personally i think should go to north riding league) so that means bottom will no doubt be relegated. Mind as other years anything can happen

Washington have struggled for years now, haven't they? I put there struggles down to years of been out of town with no permanent home but new ground and no change of fortunes

It's hardly a brilliant home ground. The initial one had a big social club in a large estate which is always going to get you some kind of gate, this new one is very much out of town.
Consett (to some degree), Morpeth and Bishops all have out of town grounds, but large function rooms and community links to circumvent that issue.

Awful last night. Went down to 10 men in the first half but in reality i dont think if they had 11 the score would of been much different. They are in massive, massive trouble, They have a home pitch they can play on going to have to play 3 times a week till the end of the season. I honestly think they have no hope of finishing their games on time. Made even worse by the fact the manager has a 4 game stadium ban. Didn't know that pal. What's all that about.

Nobody knows as of yet, Was 1 Last year with Sunderland West End getting a reprieve on PPG i think. However a reprieve could be difficult for either Washington or Brandon due to lack of points. Bottom club will be relegated as that’s in the FA rules . But we all know rules can be changed last minute . With 2 clubs going up to the NPL, and it looking unlikely that any other teams will be relegated to the NL (though there's rumours Newton Aycliffe aren't going to do the ground work so will be relegated accordingly) in might be that no teams go down, but reprieves are decided nationally on a PPG basis. There's also 3 teams to come up so it might mean a bit of lateral movement for the 2nd division teams on the fringes of the league, though it's hard to see who could be comfortably moved.

Wonder if that's going to be the new trend. Win the Northern league get promoted toss the groundwork off then get relegated. Job done. I'd make the clubs who are doing this apply to come back into the Northern league and place them in division 2.

Absolutely agree with this, and don't forget , throw into the mix a months break from football due to not being able to get a team out with no reprisals (that I am aware) . However a player registration that was logged with the League 20 mins late cost Northallerton 3 points last season.

I think the only penalty under the current rules is you can't be promoted again the following season. It happened to club a few weeks back - they got relegated due to failing grading, are walking the league and have been told they won't be promoted. Can't remember who it was now.

At the end of the season you get to sit with these people that make these decisions sorry should say haven't got the minerals to make a right decision and they all go on like they've got the best interests of the league at heart. Absolute Danglies couldn't run a bath. Spineless. Letting there Clique clubs get away with murder whilst they shit on the other ones who give it a try. Not fit for purpose and the North shields sketch confirms that.
