How many teams in National League North and South are running full time? Im going to go with: North -scunthorpe -south shields South -maidstone -torquay -yeovil Not as many as previous seasons Havant were full time last year though Director of Football Paul Doswell(was manager till he got a 12 week ban) has left and was rumoured to be providing a fair bit of their money. Eastbourne have had a recent fair bit of investment and Gloucester were full time but seem to be going part time next season

Yeah its a hike but if it was not them im sure it would be another southern team due to there only been 1 team form the north relegated from the national league. If Stortford had stayed south they would be having to go to Truro (playing in Plymouth again this year), Yeovil, Taunton, Torquay, Weymouth, Bath, Chippenham and Weston-Super-Mare. I'm not sure that there will be a great difference in the mileage overall but I could be wrong. Stortford to Spenny 236 miles, Stortford to Plymouth Parkway 257 miles for example. By the way, you'll love playing on the Stortford sandpit (not!!!)

If it was not bishop stortford it would have been hemel hempstead or st albans, maybe oxford had they not gone up. On the plus side the travelling in the national league has gone down

I think it would have been Braintree which is marginally further north than Stotford but doesn't have the same proximity to the M11

Maybe the answer could have been when the Pyramid System was set up, perhaps there could have been 3 National Leagues- South, North, and a Midlands section, with 3 relegations per season from the Conference?

Maybe the answer could have been when the Pyramid System was set up, perhaps there could have been 3 National Leagues- South, North, and a Midlands section, with 3 relegations per season from the Conference? That would have been the obvious thing to do but it wouldn’t fit a pyramid shape. Imo it should be League 3 (pro) then semi pro 3-3- then whatever for regional leagues. Also have much more relegation and promotion. It’s counter intuitive but increasing promotion and relegation spots means clubs are far less likely to go to the wall overspending either to win 1 or 2 precious promotion spots or to avoid relegation because getting back up is so difficult. Most of the financial difficulties in the sport are down to dumbass initiatives like having a perfectly shaped pyramid then individual clubs in leagues voting to keep or reduce relegation spots thinking that will protect them. It won’t. One bad season and you could be at the step below for 5-6 years because you voted to only have a small number of relegation / promotion spots. Imagine the premier league down to league 3 having 6 up 6 down…quality, TV money etc would flood down the leagues from the top. Premier league clubs won’t mind getting relegated because it will be relatively easy to go back up. Quality and money would flood through the leagues and risk to all clubs reduce. Nah, they’d rather pull up the drawbridge.
