Been a common theme for a long time and I believe was a big part of why last seasons manager left half way through the season. Don’t know the full story, but I don’t think anyone believes that they have the full interest of the football club at heart. Things like no Friday night games as it’s pool night in the club house.

Does seem a strange one. Obviously looks like it’s more bar ,pool and darts focused than the actual game they’re known for

Very odd, unless whitley bays share the clubhouse with other sports clubs like alot do the main focus should be on the football, sure functions are good and can be worked around football but no friday games is bizarre. A good ten year back a bloke i worked with said the comittee men at whitley bay were like mike ashley at newcastle and lacked ambition. Not sure if its the same guys there now

Could be looking for a new manager etc in a few weeks.

The Seahorse pub (the clubhouse attached to the ground) seems to have regarded the football side of things as an inconvenience for over a decade, and always seemed at odds with most other clubs by paying for permanent bar staff etc. rather than being manned by volunteers (see also the interlinked head groundsman role etc. and a perceived lack of clarity regarding club finances and I can understand where the Mike Ashley comparisons are made - of course others would say that Ashley ran Newcastle as a business and did well it of it).

You right about ashley think the comparison was regarding as you say stagnating, managers been chased away, attendances still good despite lack of ambition etc. not been to the club house for a while but it was always good. is it run as a seperate entity if the football is deemed in the way?

No, it's just that certain directors sometimes give the (I'm sure entirely untrue) impression that the Pool League is more important than the football club leading to constant rumours about the direction of funding. Some clubs like Heaton Stannington for example have always been fully transparent about all dealings, whereas others have allegedly refused outside investment as it would've required them to open up their books to someone from the outside.

Redcar and Boro both doing well as expected.
Have to say was slightly underwhelmed when I saw Redcar win the other night. Might just be the gradual weakening of the league as all the best teams have already moved up, but they didn't seem anything special despite what appears at face value to be a comfortable win to maintain their 100% start.

Good teams sometimes win ugly .Time will .Shildon not had the best start .but they'll be up there once again. I'm predicting boro Rangers as dark horses .
