Bishops pre season campaign signed off with a 3-1 defeat at Stockton Town on Friday night. Bishops took a very early lead through JJ Bartliff but the home side hit back almost immediately through Thompson. The same player put Stockton ahead after a bad error by Bishops trialist keeper. A third goal was added near the end. All in all a testing pre season campaign with x2 wins vs sides lower than us in the pyramid but x4 defeats against sides higher than us, perhaps indicating we are still a work in progress but not a million miles away from where we need to be. ' but not a million miles away from where we need to be.' Back in the Northern League

More likely Bishops will finish ahead of Ashington than be relegated. May take a few weeks to really get going but i am confident we will have a pretty decent season back in the NPL.

Multiple players to come in, season long loans from. Catterick back soon, who was there most important player watched the Stockton game, Jack Norton who I assume must be filling in is awful, can see why no has signed him. Expect him to rock up at Billingham Town at some point

Finally got to see Ashington in pre-season tonight as the Colliers dominated Spennymoor to win 4-0.
Ashington started brightly, and deservedly took the lead when a good one touch passing move released Andy Cartwright in the box, his rifled shot finding the the far corner on the goal.
Ashington continued to control possession, but a mistake by the trialist in defence let the Spenny striker in one on one with Dan Staples but the trialist recovered quickly to smother the striker and prevent him getting his shot off.
The Colliers doubled their lead in the 54th minute when another incisive passing move fell to Cyril Giroud in the box whose finish gave the keeper no chance.
Cameron Gascoigne skipped past the Spennymoor defence giving the full back no choice but to drag him back, the ref awarding Ashington a penalty, duly dispatched by Eddie Thomas on 71 minutes.
Jay Errington rounded off the scoring on 80 minutes, when another free flowing passing move found him in the box where he calmly slotted home.
All in all, a great performance from Ashington who played some terrific, free flowing football and were rock solid at the back. Spennymoor were very poor however, and didn’t get a shot on target all night. I was talking to one of their fans in the car park afterwards who was very critical of the players attitude and application tonight.
That’s preseason done, on to the real thing on Saturday when we travel to Shildon in the FA Cup.
