Thank you for putting this up, looking forward to the new season already. Newcastle Independent Cabrito's team have become the senior side of the Newcastle City Juniors who play out of Benwell. We said goodbye to Stocksfield and Ashington Reserves at the end of the season. Of the new clubs all but one are coming up from the NCFL Prem Div, Walkergate as champions, NS Athletic Res (2nd), Prudhoe YC Res (3rd), Cramlington Town (4th) and Westerhope (7th). Great Park were champions of Div 1 and Wideopen Res finished 5th. i2i are associated with Northumbria University. Cramlington Town were last in the NA just before covid, they have a lovely setup at the Sporting Village in the town and they have a new clubhouse now so definitely a return visit is on the cards. I think we've seen Walkergate and Westerhope in the league before, certainly clubs with those names. This is definitely the first time for Great Park.

In the league there is currently 1 club with suitable facilities to apply for promotion and that is Alnwick. Beyond this there are a couple of clubs that are about 4/5 years away from being in a position to apply for promotion

NE Elite academy (the link in the twitter feed) are based at Northumbria Uni. Could this be linked to the mysterious i2i application.

Beyond this there are a couple of clubs that are about 4/5 years away from being in a position to apply for promotion I don't know if they have floodlights, but there's definitely seating at Wallsend Boys Club Seniors. Great Park are apparently going to play at Druid Park, a ground that's hosted NL football before. Although neither are currently in the top division I think.

Great Park's current ground requires crossing a road between the pitch and the dressing rooms in the community centre, someone else maybe able to say whether this a no no for the NA's ground requirements and a possible reason for them moving to Druid Park. I think it's a shame though. And as regards suitable grounds don't forget that Forest Hall play at a currently graded NL ground though of course they are in Div 1. Are reserve clubs allowed in the NL, we could include Hebburn from the Premier League then. However if you had asked anybody five years ago which NA clubs would be playing the NL I don't think Hazelrigg (as Blue Star were) or Prudhoe YP would have been on many peoples list.

So i got a response from the league regarding the Newcastle Benfield Reserves situation -
"FYI The team in question is still registered under the name of Seaton Burn. This may change but at the moment, that's where it stands"

The excellent North East Non-League Show (linked in the other topic in this forum) had a fascinating interview with the manager of AFC Newbiggin, Neil Cooper. They look like they are planning to be promoted to the NL. Planning applications in for floodlights and stands.

The day before the new season starts a quick check of the fixtures for tomorrow to pick a game to attend and three teams have departed. Seaton Burn has resigned from Division 1 (that is a shame, they've been around for years), Alnwick Town Reserves from Division 2 and i2i International Soccer from Division Three.

Thank you for the clarification. The result of this means that the we have no alliance teams that area now with Hazelrigg's old pitch dug up and then them moving onto Dinnington, Wide Open leaving Lockley Park and moving to Dudley and the John Willie Sams and now Seaton Burn leaving the Rec.
